JOSE SPÍNOLA
Jose Spínola is a Mexican director & photographer who works on music, fashion, documentaries, advertising & branded content projects. He establishes deep connections between his characters and their environments in his work with captivating empathy. A true cinephile, with extensive knowledge of photography and art, he impregnates the projects with deep meaning with a whimsical approach to aesthetics, light, color, framing & composition.
His multidisciplinary approach has led him to work with artists such as Kim Gordon, Zola Jesus, Devendra Banhart, Philip Glass & James Turrell, Kashmir, Jordan Rakei, Bomba Estereo, Sudan Archives, Gilles Peterson, and clients such as Beefeater 24, Gucci, Google, Nissan, Sony, Bimba y Lola, among many others. His editorials have been published in magazines such as Wallpaper, Gup, L'offciel, Suitcase, Lensculture, P Magazine, I-D, and Hotbook, to name a few. Also, his work has been exhibited at the Taipei Contemporary Art Center. He has been published in the books “100 Sculptors of Tomorrow” by Thames & Hudson, in London, and "Chineseness in Chile" by Palgrave Macmillan. And recently gained international recognition with the showcase of his video installation titled 'Nature Is No Longer Destiny' at the Croatian Art Biennale.
While he's not working on commercial projects, he puts his time and soul into developing passion projects, documentaries, and photographs.
